Dee Davis is a Cosmo Girl!
In the early eighties, when I was fresh out of college, a friend recommended that I read Having it All by Cosmopolitan magazine’s editor-in-chief Helen Gurley Brown. I loved it. The term “mouseburger” became a part of my vocabulary. And immediately the magazines of my youth were replaced with a subscription to Cosmo. I wanted to be a Cosmo girl.
For my friends and me, the magazine was a monthly must read. From the sexy quizzes (which we usually read out loud to each other), to the advice columns and fashion tips, everything about the magazine screamed current and chic. And although I’ve grown much older, I’ll admit to still glomming the pages when I travel by airplane, sit in a doctor’s office, or just want an entertaining hour or two. After all, just because I’m past a certain age, doesn’t mean I’m immune to reading about what’s hot and what’s not.
And I’ll admit that I’ve always had a secret desire to not only read the magazine but be featured in it. I mean, once in her life, a girl definitely needs to be in Cosmo! And—I’m pinching myself while I’m writing this—today’s the day. Harrison and Hannah and my newest book Deadly Dance are featured as Cosmo’s Hot Read!
To celebrate, Grand Central will be giving away two subscriptions to Cosmo. Enter for a chance to win by leaving a comment below. I’d love to know–when did you first start reading Cosmo?
